凍てつくバイカル湖 Frozen Lake Baikal
この周辺になると車内に物売りの人がバイカル湖でしかとれないオームリという魚の燻製を手に乗り込んでくる。この旅中で一番気に入った食べ物。
Around the lake, local people ride the train to sell smoked fish (Baikal omul) that is my most favorite Russian food in this time.
鳥取の境港からフェリーで２泊３日、韓国の東海（トンヘ）を経由し、シベリア鉄道のターミナル駅があるウラジオストクへ。ビザ取得の手間に加えて英語が通じないのと物取りに気をつけろという事前情報や政治イメージの先入観それと気候的なことから閉鎖的でピンと張った空気を想像していた。街でも電車内でも英語が通じないのはその通りで、こちらの振る舞いはロシア語わかりません丸出しで、かつきっとシャイで物静かな国民性も相まってか、唯一の日本人乗客に好奇の眼差しは向けられるものの積極的に話しかけられることはない。乗った客車では運良く入れ替わり立ち替わりで英語話者の存在に事欠くことがなく彼らがとてもフレンドリーに通訳を買って出てくれたために他の乗客とも会話を楽しめた。話せるとわかると寄ってきてロシアのことを教えてくれるなど素朴で心安い人が多い。私が乗ったのは一番安い３等車、部屋のような区切りはなく、同客車では一人の韓国人青年と私のみが旅行者（席が近く仲良くなれたのでより安心して過ごせた）、生活の足として乗り込む人がほとんどで老若男女様々な地域の人がいた。終点モスクワまで7泊8日、最後は飛行機で一跨ぎ。
I embarked for Vladivostok via Donghae (Korea) From Sakai port (Japan). It was a three-day sailing. After arrival, I rode on the Trans-Siberian Railway before the day was over.
I had heard some notes about Russia as; “Getting a visa is inconvenience”, “English is not common”, “Look out for thieves in the train”… Accordingly, I had supposed that Russia is closed and in tense air in conjunction with an unfavorable political impression and a cold climate.
On the street, in the train most of the people can’t use English as expected and the way I talk and act, you can tell he’s a foreigner. Thus they seem to be interested in the only Japanese in our passenger car but didn’t talk to me positively. Also I just thought Russian people are shy or quiet as similar to Japanese. Fortunately, I didn’t lack English-speaking fellow passengers while on my journey. Thanks to them I enjoyed conversation with other passengers. They were mostly harmless and good-humored, for instance somebody approached me to tell about Russia and to ask about Japan when they noticed a translator near by.
My passenger car was 3rd class (the cheapest), passengers get on this train mostly on the basis of their mundane life, and besides, a nice young man from Korea and I were the only tourists there (Luckily our seats were close, so I had a sense of safety).
It was an eight-day train trip, and then a few hours daytime flight to Stockholm on the same day that I arrived in Moscow. It was the total ten-day journey from Japan to Sweden.

155mのテレビ塔。展望室がありストックホルムが一望出来る。中心街から少し歩くと緑の広がるエリア（撮影地点）があり、特にこの辺りが前述の八ヶ岳南麓の空気を思い出させてくれる。
The 155meter high TV tower, commanding a full view of Stockholm. There are woods and grasslands between the city and the tower, reminiscent of my favorite area in Yamanashi.
市街からほど近い森の中 In the wood in Stockholm
2016年度、日本全国でおよそ91万人が新社会人となった。私も新しい世界へ一歩踏み出すことにやぶさかではない。一方、アイラインが特徴的な5人組アイドルBIGBANGは最近のドームツアーで海外アーティスト史上最多91万人の観客を動員した。ストックホルム市民の数はそれくらい。山梨県の人口にもういっこ南アルプス市を足したくらい。面積は209㎢。甲府市は212.47㎢。
こちらに来ての第一印象であり今なお日々感じることは空の大きさ。建物の高さ制限や道の広さや山が無いとか標高とか原因は色々だろうけど物理的な開放感は住み心地の良さの一因だと思う。東京は雑多さが面白いがこちらは同じ首都で都会でも街並が整っている。小さな島々の集合で形成された街並みには瀬戸内海尾道の景色を想起した。リラックスしたムードは八ヶ岳南麓の雰囲気を思い出す。夏は一日のほとんどが昼でみんなハッピーだそう、現時点でも朝5時から夜8時くらいまで陽がある。逆に冬はほぼ一日が夜で暗さに気を病む人が多いそうだ。だからデスメタルが盛んになったのだろうか。スウェーデンはヨーロッパ有数の鉄鉱石輸出国でもある。だからだろうか。（続く）
In 2016, nine hundred ten thousand people went out into the real world in Japan. Meanwhile, Korean boy band Big Bang sold nine hundred ten thousand tickets for a concert tour 2015-2016 in Japan. I mean, about nine hundred ten thousand people live in Stockholm’s two hundred nine square kilometer area. In the other hand, about one hundred ninety thousand people live in Kofu’s two hundred twelve square kilometer area.
A first impression of Stockholm is bigger sky compared with other cities that I have been. I guess it because of regulations at cityscape, no mountains in the vicinity, height above sea level or something… anyway clear or unobstructed expanses of space make city life nice. Although it’s amusing and enjoyable, the capital of Japan looks disordered. Yet the capital of Sweden looks well featured. A cityscape composed of small islands reminds me of Setouchi Onomichi area in Hiroshima where you should go. A relaxed atmosphere reminds me of Yatsugatake Hokuto area in Yamanashi where you must go.
In summer time, people will be happy with a lot of hours of sunlight in a day. In contrast, quite a few of them will be sick in winter with long dark nights. I wonder if it’s a motive of Swedish death metal. Which reminds me that Sweden has one of the largest iron ore productions in Europe. I wonder if it’s a motive of Swedish death metal…
