All my works are inspired by daily life. I look the things around me and I try to catch the essence of it in order to be able to tell the world in a simple and easy way.

I work on the concept of time using as main media sculpture and drawing.

In a fast world I’m interested in the ability of waiting, so my characters are often children, animals, old and strange people. In my works they appear to be crystallized and stopped in the time, their shapes and colours seem to be time-worn like they were living just in memories or in dreams.

I would like to create a language that everyone from everywhere can understand, something that will appear easy and light at the first sight but that is also deep and critical if you pay more attention to it.

I’m interested to expand my knowledge finding new inspirations, discover and learn about old and contemporary history of different countries, taking things that affect me and reusing it in a new and contemporary key.

In this way we’ll think about a topical fact through something that we already know because it is a part of our History.

In the last few years I focused my research on materials, looking for some kind of sustainable materials, as a result I started to work more with paper, which became the main material of my sculptures.

Some years ago I started to be more interested in social art. I started to work with children, old people and outsiders, at first as a volunteer. This approach made me stronger and now I begun to organize recycling workshops for children and people with different kind of disabilities.

Memory cubes project – Silvia Trappa

I’m an Italian artist and all my works talks about how the contemporary society has change and influence our daily live, customs and traditions.

Digital technology have changed the way to preserve our memories.

My project focus on how is changed our way to remember, involving the local people it want to be a meeting point between different culture, age and style.

I would like to ask to people of Kofu to be a part of this project:

-show me an old picture of your family

-tell me the story behind that moment

I’ll use pictures and stories for remake these in  drawings on paper that after will be put on cubes of wood  (recovered from joinery scrap).

All pieces will be using to make an installation, it will be like a monument of memory and also a kind of collective memory, a way to tell the history of the town through the personal experience of each citizen.
