Friday 17th saw the simultaneous opening parties of visible horizon in Melbourne, Australia, and Kofu, Japan.

Many people celebrated the event both here and in Melbourne, and both galleries offered a live music performance and skype connection which meant viewers could meet and talk with artists and gallery visitors across the sea.

１７日（金）visible horizonオープニング・パーティーが、メルボルンと山梨で同時に開催され、両地で多くの人々がオープンを祝った。両方のギャラリーで音楽パフォーマンスが披露され、スカイプで結ばれた。海を越えて双方のアーティスト達が出会い話をすることができた瞬間！

The Melbourne viewers watched the entirety of Gen Tanabe’s performance live, and were able to meet artists that they had purchased work from!

メルボルンの参加者達は、スカイプを通してミュージシャン田辺玄の音楽に聴き入った。そして買い求めた作品をつくったアーティストに会うことができた。

This mixing of people across continents, and obvious warmth felt both here and in Melbourne, shows us that cultures can be introduced to each other and united through art. We learnt of the potential of this kind of collaboration, and all it can offer.

国を越えて人々の交流は、双方とも明らかに心温まるものだった。それはアートを介して、互いの文化を紹介しあったり一つになることができることを示している。このような協働が、大きな可能性をもつことを学ぶことができた。

What does it mean to show Kofu to Melbourne, and Melbourne to Kofu?

Hopefully this is only the beginning of a long time collaboration and mixing of ideas.
